Behavioural Economics in Healthcare (webinar recording)

Recording of the EIU webinar on July 4th 2018.

Despite the widely purported medical and cost-saving benefits of preventative healthcare measures, such as diet and exercise regimes, vaccinations, and medical screenings, patients often choose not to adopt them.1 Instead of basing their decision-making on facts and figures, psychological factors—emotional responses and cognitive biases—frequently have an outsized influence.1 This virtual event, anchored in the findings of an Economist Intelligence Unit report will dig into the reasons for this discrepancy. Our panel of experts explores methods to narrow the gap between theory and practice. What interventions work? Why and how do we leverage them to reduce the burden of disease? How can policymakers use these findings to design more effective health campaigns? How can healthcare professionals use them to better engage patients around preventative healthcare and what support do they need to be able to do this?
