BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY: THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF INDIAN PEACEKEEPERS AT THE UN (30.27 Min.)

Over 1 million Indian men and women have served under the UN flag in more than 70 peace keeping operations. However, what is remarkable is that in the earlier years, peacekeeping was limited to maintaining ceasefires and stabilizing situations. Today, they are called upon not only to maintain peace and security but also protect civilians, disarm combatants, support elections in conflict zones and restore the rule of law.

The film spotlights the multi-dimensional role of the peacekeepers and India’s contribution to the organization over the years. India has contributed more troops to UN peacekeeping than any other country. And they have helped the local communities with a range of services. Currently more than 7000 Indian troops are deployed in 10 UN Peace keeping missions.

This is a story of their courage and dedication. Traveling four continents via helicopters, on foot and riverine patrols, we go to the most dangerous hotspots in the world to capture the untold story of the Indian peacekeeper’s struggle and sacrifice.
