'Creative' or 'Text Book' recording? - Which is Best? (Recording Studio Chat)
I fully understand the importance of learning recording techniques and key principals. Afterall, without learning these then being creative would be quite tricky.
In this video I wanted to explore the notion of the importance to sometimes ignore the need to record things 'correctly', but instead when in that session in the studio, whether alone or with a band, that you as the engineer/producer is brave enough to create a different tone than just the 'expected sound.
The amount of times I have listened to a artists recordings and thought to myself, I love this even though the recording is not exactly 'perfect' or shall we say a 'textbook recording'.
I hope if anything this video serves as a reminder that recording and producing audio does not need to be 'textbook' all the time. Personality is key.
As ever, happy recording to you all! Martin
