Shatu Sani Garko: The 44th Miss Nigeria and the world’s first hijab-wearing woman to win a national pageant. She’s only 19 years old and has been in international spotlight for her tenacity to retain the hijab.

Deqa Dhalac: A member of the Maine House of Representatives for the 120th District. A Somali immigrant, she served as the mayor of South Portland, Maine, from 2021 to 2022, becoming the first Somali American mayor in the United States.
