Hauptwerk System Power Sequencer (HWPS)
HWPS is a 4-channel relay board designed for controlling up to 4 separate AC loads under user defined timing or MIDI control or both. This document is dedicated to possible use of HWPS for controlling Hauptwerk sub-systems’ AC power upon switching the organ on and off. HWPS makes it possible to start and shut down the entire Hauptwerk system using single switch, or even momentary button, without thinking about the right sequence of powering, loading and unloading Hauptwerk, etc. It is intended to be “under hood” power sequence controller, allowing building of “computer-less” Hauptwerk organ systems without any visible computer controls (monitor, mouse, keyboard) needing interaction from player.
A typical Hauptwerk system consists of three separate AC-powered sub-systems:
- The Computer hosting Hauptwerk VPO
- The Audio system
- The MIDI System (organ console)
For normal use there are optimal power up and power down sequences that would minimize the risk of technical issues, also unwanted sounds and other effects upon power up and power down.
