😼 Research has shown that when cats don’t have enough opportunities to play, they can turn to destructive and attention seeking behaviours, such as scratching the furniture or increased vocalisation.

All cats need physical and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. Getting plenty of opportunities to use their inquisitive minds and natural hunting instincts through play is an excellent way to:

Here are some top cat friendly play tips👇

⏱️ Take at least 5 minutes to play with your cat each day

🔒 Keep toys safely stored away when not in use

🪶 Try different ways to use a wand toy – wiggle it along the ground like a snake, drag the toy in and out of sight like a mouse, swoosh it through the air and let it land like a bird, or move it erratically like an insect. Remember to let your cat catch the toy!

🔀 Rotate between using different toys for play sessions to keep your cat interested.

🐈 If you have more than one cat, play with them separately to keep play safe and focused for each cat.

🧩 End play sessions with a treat or a meal in a puzzle feeder.
