🪡 Kayseri rugs, especially those woven in the village of Ağırnas, are among the most precious pieces of Anatolian textile art.The motifs used in these rugs are not just decorative — they are rich with emotion.Women would express their current emotions, their longings, and their love stories through these patterns.Some folk songs even originated during the weaving of these rugs:🎶 “Yarim İstanbul’u mesken mi tuttun?” — a heartfelt melody sung by women while working at the loom, missing their beloved.

📿 It is said that nearly 1,500 unique motifs exist in Kayseri weaving.When grouped into design sets, this number drops to around 800–900, since each rug usually features 6–7 motifs.Each motif carries a history that spans up to 80 years.Some rugs even hide the names of young lovers, secretly knotted into the fabric by the weaver.
