In my Liverpool Home and The Leaving of Liverpool

A video I made in tribute to the most famous city in England outside of London. The very beautiful city of Liverpool.

In Music, Liverpool has produced more Number One records than any other city in the world; that includes cities like New York & London which are three times the size of Liverpool.

In Sport: Liverpool is the most successful footballing city in England; home to Englands second most successful Football Club, Liverpool & Englands fourth most successful Football Club, Everton. Between them, Everton & Liverpool have won more than that of any other cities teams, including all the 14 London clubs put together.
Liverpool is also home to the worlds most famous horse race, the Grand National.

In Culture, Liverpool has more Museums and Art Galleries than any other city in the UK outside of the Capital London. It has the oldest Chinese community in all of Europe and one of the biggest Irish communities.

In Architecture, Liverpool has been classed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, due to it's great beauty and maritime importance. It was the first city in the UK to have two Cathedrals. It's Anglican Cathedral is the biggest Cathedral in the whole of the UK & it is the 5th biggest in the entire world. Liverpool also has more Grade II listed buildings than any other city in the UK outside of the Capital London.

• Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain... In a word, there is no town in England, London excepted, that can equal it for the fineness of the streets, and the beauty of the buildings. (Daniel Defoe)
• That immense City which stands like another Venice upon the water...where there are riches overflowing and everything which can delight a man who wishes to see the prosperity of a great community (Thomas Erskine)
• I have heard of the greatness of Liverpool but the reality far surpasses my expectation (Prince Albert)
• Liverpool...has become a wonder of the world. It is the New York of Europe, a world city rather than merely British provincial (London News)
• Liverpool is the 'pool of life' (C.G. Jung)
• The centre is imposing, dignified and darkish.. But it looked like a big city, there was no denying that. Here, emphatically, was the English seaport second only to London. The very weight of stone emphasised that fact. And even if the sun never seems to properly rise over it, I like a big city to proclaim itself a big city at once. (J.B. Priestley)
• There is no limit to the city's potential. The scale and resilience of the buildings and people is amazing -- it is a world city, far more so than London... It doesn't feel like anywhere else: comparisons always end up overseas -- Dublin, or Boston, or Hamburg. The city is tremendous. The centre is humane and convenient to walk around in, but never loses its scale (Ian Nairn)
