Chris Philp vows to STRIP judges of immigration powers and stamp out 'DISGUSTING' migrant crime

Shadow home secretary Chris Philp has pledged to scrap immigration tribunals in a package of Conservative plans to be unveiled shortly.

He said immigration decisions should be taken out of judges’ hands and handed to the Home Office, with legal aid withdrawn for immigration cases.

In a speech at Policy Exchange today, Mr Philp said: “I believe radical, sweeping change is needed to end the courts’ dominance and restore democratic control over illegal immigration and deportation.

“The truth is that politicians are not properly in control of the system when it comes to illegal immigration. The courts are.

“Only decisive, radical action will return control of the immigration system to Parliament and democratically elected ministers.”
