Sunday 10 am Tropical Update: Zeta expected to reach Gulf Coast by Wednesday

Tropical Zeta formed overnight in the northwest Caribbean Sea. It is forecast to eventually become a hurricane as it drifts very slowly northward on a forecast path that currently has Louisiana again in the cone of a possible strike.

Zeta is expected to move into the Gulf on Tuesday as a hurricane. It is then set to weaken at least some as it approaches the Gulf Coast due to cooler water temperatures and increased wind shear ahead of a cold front.

A landfall as a tropical storm or maybe weak hurricane is possible by Wednesday somewhere along the Gulf Coast, but there is still uncertainty in the long-range part of the forecast.
