Peugeot 407 2.0 HDi Timing Belt Replacement

How to replace the timing belt on a Peugeot 407 fitted with the 2.0 16v HDi engine engine code DW10BTED4.
This is the first time i have carried this job on any 2.0 16v engine and took a few steps that came from memories of working on the old 2.0 8v from the 406. The newer engine is arranged differently with an idler pulley being located in the lower section of the engine mount bracket. The fuel pump also is not driven by the cambelt, but instead it has been moved to the other side of the engine and seems to be driven via the camshaft.

Generally it is not too hard to replace the belt on this engine, the drain bolt at the back does not need to come off, you can flush the coolant well enough via the bleed screws. The fact the starter needs to come out to access the hole to lock the flywheel is a hassle, if the hole had been elsewhere on the block it may have been possible to do it without removing components but then the timing belt is not due for at at least another 6 years.

Regarding the timing belt interval, i do not have the exact information to hand but it usually is in the maintenance handbook that comes with the car. A document that is suprisingly hard to find in PDF form to confirm. However online searches seem to suggest the interval for a 2.0 hdi with a particle filter is
All HDi engines without particle filter: 120 000 km (70,000 miles) or 6 years
All HDi engines with particle filter: 180 000 km (110,000 miles) or 9 years

This video is specific to the 407, although the same engine was fitted to other PSA cars such as the Citroen C5 MK1 facelift and MK2, the 307, 308, Dispatch/Relay, 607. Ford i belive used the engine in the Mondeo, and Volvo in a few of their cars from this era.
