Hi everyone!
In this video I speak and give advice only out of my own experience.)
#1 To install “Word of the day” app
Well I don’t like those apps, neither with words nor with idioms and etc. When I randomly read the meaning of some random word I forget it like in an hour!
#2 Learn 5/10 new words every day
I tried to do that, and for the first few days I was enthusiastic and I was picking words for myself and writing them down for several times and even making up some sentences. But after those few days I got bored, I didn’t know how to pick new words that I’m gonna need in conversations…so this one wasn’t working either…
#3 Subscribe on some page in social media that is in English
Advice#3 To subscribe on some page in social media that is in English!
I like this one. This way you will always go through some information in English, some articles for example. You’ll read it and you’ll always find some new words that will catch your attention. And it’s much easier to understand and memorize a word in the context! But I want to recommend to you to choose something that you’re interested in, really interested in. Something of your current interests.
. And don’t chase after the number! You don’t have to learn 10 words a day and then forget them. It’s not a race or competition. Remember that learning a language is a process. So take your time! And I can totally tell, that through some time you’re gonna be able to learn a lot more words a day than you can now.
Give your brain time to get used to the process.
#4 Search all the information you need in English
Uuu… this one isn’t easy! It’s challenging! It requires qualities like persistence and patience. But it’s super helpful and practical!
It improves your reading skills, your speaking skills, because when there wasn’t anyone around I was reading out loud of course! And there always were some new words and words that I didn’t use and even forgot about. And I could memorize them better cause I was very interested in that information and they were valuable because they were a part of that information.
And you can look for any kind of information. For instance you have a cat or a dog, and you’re not sure what to feed them with besides theirs special nutrition. You can read about that!
Or maybe you want to know how to grow strawberries in your garden. I literally mean anything. Just make it your habit!
#5 Use those words
And here it would be great if you had a conversation partner!))
If you don’t have a conversation partner, you’re just gonna have talk to yourself. And it’s not that bad, sometimes it’s even better than to talk to someone you feel uncomfortable talking with…and that’s actually the key! Using those words repeatedly!
#6 Watch TV shows
They usually concentrate on some specific subject. And you can hear a lot of words you don’t know that are repeated constantly. If you read the meanings of those words and hear them all the time in the context you will memorize them for sure.
#7 Create stories, speeches, right notes!
