First up —

Anthropic's Claude chatbot spikes after Super Bowl ads
Anthropic's Super Bowl ads targeting rival OpenAI appear to be delivering returns. The AI giant's chatbot Claude climbed the U.S. App Store leaderboard, reaching its highest rank ever on Friday, at seventh place, up from 41st, TechCrunch reports. The app's downloads surged to about 148,000 from Sunday through Tuesday, a 32% increase from the previous three days, according to Appfigures. The popularity boost comes as Anthropic continues to expand its partnerships and release new models. The company closed a $30 billion funding round this week at a $380 billion valuation.

Gen Z turns to stock market as homeownership slips away
As homeownership becomes less attainable for young adults, many are turning to the stock market to build wealth, The Wall Street Journal reports. The portion of 25- to 39-year-olds contributing to investment accounts more than tripled between 2013 and 2023, data from the JPMorgan Chase Institute shows. The shift comes amid a housing affordability squeeze, with younger buyers’ share of the market dropping to 44% in 2025 from 51% in 1999, per Redfin. In the current market, renting and investing may yield greater financial benefits than homeownership, researchers say.
Now this one is interesting —
American farmers are aging out with no successors
American farmers are facing a deepening succession crisis as rising costs and weak commodity prices push more families out of agriculture. Farm bankruptcies jumped 46% in 2025 from the previous year, The Wall Street Journal reports, and the industry's aging workforce now includes more farmers over 75 than under 35, per the U.S. Department of Agriculture. "Family agriculture is in crisis," National Farmers Union President Rob Larew says. The decline of family farms is reshaping rural America, The Journal notes, disrupting generational wealth transfer traditionally tied to land ownership.
Young consumers spend more on luxury items in TikTok era
Gen Z is living in an "always on, always judged" world, and it's shaping the way they shop, Bloomberg reports. Younger adults are increasingly willing to spend on luxury items that enhance their online presence, while showing reluctance to purchase everyday items that don't boost appearances. The digital native generation is spending roughly 20% more on nonessential items like beauty products, home decor and clothing, according to Morning Consult data. Gen Z's propensity for personal branding comes even as the generation faces a slow job market and student debt.
How employees are training their own AI replacements
While many debate whether artificial intelligence will eliminate jobs, a more immediate concern is emerging, Texas A&M University professor Matthew Call writes for The Wall Street Journal: Workers using company AI systems may be training their own replacements without realizing it. Enterprise platforms like Salesforce's Einstein don't just record employees' work; they capture their institutional knowledge. To "change the power dynamic" as companies race to implement enterprise AI, Call suggests using personal AI tools like ChatGPT, defining AI policies upfront, and harnessing collective power to establish boundaries.
