Ji Gang-Hee (Lee Se-Young) grew up at Motel California, which her father ran in their rural hometown village. Her mother also had a mixed-race background. Because of Ji Gang-Hee's unconventional family, she became the subject of whispers and gossip among the local residents, leaving her with deep emotional scars. She harbored feelings for her childhood friend, Chun Yeon-Soo (Na In-Woo), who was her first love. However, at the age of 20, she left her hometown and moved to Seoul.

Twelve years later, now an accomplished interior designer at the peak of her career, Ji Gang-Hee unexpectedly decides to return to her hometown. There, she reunites with her first love, Chun Yeon-Soo.

Chun Yeon-Soo works as a veterinarian in the village. The only woman he has ever loved is Ji Gang-Hee, but he has garnered much attention from local farmers eager to set him up with their daughters. To avoid these awkward situations, he has let the rumor spread that he is planning to marry a fellow veterinarian. When Ji Gang-Hee returns after twelve years, his past feelings resurface.
