Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2018 Ram 2500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 Air Spring Kit. Many of today's newer trucks ride more like luxury vehicles as opposed to the old days where they rode like farm trucks. Well, that's a nice ride that we want to maintain, especially whenever we're carrying a heavy load and that's what the airbags are going to accomplish. Whenever we're weighted down, they're actually going to be able to bring our truck back to that normal ride height, helping our suspension out to achieve that smooth ride.So to give you a good idea of what the airbags are going to do for you, we're going to go ahead and take some measurements. Now, this is what the stock suspension, no airbags and no weight in the bed of the truck.

Here at the front of the truck from the ground to the bottom edge of our wheel well, it's about 40 and a half inches. And here at the back of the truck from the ground of the wheel well, that's right at 43 and a half inches. So now we'll go ahead and put a substantial amount of weight in the bed of the truck and see how it affects our suspension. Now, we went ahead and added that weight and the bed of our truck and now we can take our measurements again. The front is going to be right at 41 inches. And here at the back, it's going to sit at 41 and a half.

So that just gives you an example of how even a little bit of weight for such a heavy duty truck can affect its suspension. Whenever we are weighted down like this, the back of our truck is going to be squatting and the front of our truck is going to be lifting up.Now that can affect a few different things. One, our headlights are going to be shining up in the air, possibly another motor size and not on the ground where they should be. It can also affect our tire wear. Since our tires aren't going to be square on the ground, you're going to wear them out on evenly and reduce their overall life.

And since those tires are wearing like that and not flat on the ground, it's going to affect your steering and your braking. And in fact, that's one of our customer's main complaints is that increased tire wear and just overall a bad ride. Now, let's go ahead and take our truck through the test course and see how it does. We'll start off by going over our bumps. Well, right away I can already tell that we have some weight in the bed of the truck. The suspension doesn't really feel like it has all that travel that we did have without the weight.

Truck. Kind of just feels like it's getting thrown around and the steering wheel definitely has some play in. It just feels like you don't have as much control as you should. Now we'll go ahead and take our truck through the slalom course and see what happens. So, I'll gain a little bit of speed and do some evasive maneuvering. Now just with these first couple turns, you can definitely feel that weight kind of trying to throw us around a little bit. I'd say we definitely have more body roll than what we should. Now that we have our airbags installed on our truck and that same amount of weight in the bed, we can go ahead and take our measurements again. So here at the front, we're going to be right at 40 and a half, which is the original ride height unloaded. And here at the back, we're going to be at 44 and a half inches. So that's actually one inch over our factory ride height. So now that we have our airbags in, we're going to be able to fine tune them regardless on how heavy our load is to bring our truck back to that factory ride height, which in turn is going to eliminate all those potential problems such as increased tire wear, reduce braking and steering performance and eliminate our headlights from shining up in the sky and not on the road where we need them.So now we'll go ahead and get back out onto the test course to see how much our ride has improved. So as we go over the first couple of bumps right away I can definitely notice a difference. The suspension feels like it's much more reactive, which in turn just makes the truck feel more planted and responsive. The steering wheel isn't getting tossed around, where staying in a straight line just feels better and more reliable. Now let's go through our slalom course, do some evasive maneuvering and see what the difference i
