Fly Tying, How to tie an effective Competition Ready Cormorant

Hook - Hanak H 260 BL #12
Thread - Semperfli Nano Silk 12/0 Black
Body - Veevus P01 Pearl
Thorax - Hends No93
Wing - Comp Candy Black Jack
Hackle - Hen Cape Dyed Black.

For Stillwater fishing the Cormorant in all its various guises is hard to look past. An all year around fly it takes more than its fair share of fish. This pattern is relatively old but I only just picked up on it after watch a video @RhysFishes on his top five flies for Spring.

The one that caught my eye was this and after a little social media investigation I found that its been around for quite some time. Rhys credits Kieron Jenkins but it may well off come from Gareth Jones. Needless to say it was probably a tight hold pattern back in the day. As ever though the next best thing comes out and flies that have always worked well are forgotten.
