"L'heure fugitive" – Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards

A woman comes face to face with her overwhelming need for revolution. Does she long for… a rendezvous? Her fantasies become action as she is carried through a series of metamorphoses, incarnating the voices of French poetesses anchored in history. Her soul drunk, she travels through the matter of her dreams, desires and sensuality, becoming the actress of her generative needs. While shedding conventions and in anonymity, she invokes a world in which man and woman exist as one. Her fleeting hour is transformed into an arm with which she confronts herself, asking: what revolution will carry me to paradise, still standing upright in my boots?

"It was a while ago now, in the heat of a summer’s afternoon, while my husband was sleeping, taking his nap, that a fantasy invaded me. I slid out of the bed onto the floor, consumed by an abstract, but living need. A need that seemed to have been buried deep within. Sitting on the ground, in my hands I found a book of poems that had been following me for some time. I began to read."

"There’s a chance that, here, fiction will serve more than reality. So, once upon a time, there was a woman, Madame M. M. because her name could be that of one woman or another. And M. also for Mélusine, which means Wonder, or the fog that rolls from the sea."

"On a beautiful summer’s evening, Madame M. was walking in a vast forest. She had no specific desire, not more than if she had been plunged into deep sleep. Suddenly, she saw a fountain in the distance. In the nearby bushes, you could hear the slithering of a serpent. There are always serpents close to such fountains…"

"Madame M. slid entirely into the fountain. Down to her navel, she had the appearance of a woman, and she was combing her hair. But all of the lower part of her body, below the navel, was shaped like a serpent’s tail, as big as a keg of herring, and of extraordinary length. As she plunged her eyes beneath the foaming water, she sprayed her invisible lover."
