OnePlus 5T vs Mi Mix 2 - In-depth Camera, Software, & Benchmark Comparison

Is it just me or is OnePlus somehow the only brand that comes to mind when you think “budget” flagship smartphone? This was definitely the case for me for a very long time! That was until I used the Essential Phone. That phone opened my eyes to these amazing budget flagships that cost almost half of what new flagships cost.
This got me curious and I started to look for more of these budget flagships and I stumbled upon the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Most of you probably haven’t heard of the phone or the company. Honestly, its just a shame because Xiaomi is one of the largest smartphone brands in Asia, especially South Asia. They focus mainly on budget devices that cost less than $350-$400, and the Mi Mix 2 is their flagship product.
The first gen Mi Mix was a really unique device. It was basically a concept phone that was put into production. It has the largest body-to-screen ratio when it came out, and used new technologies such as piezoelectric speakers. All in all it was a very special and important smartphone not only for Xiaomi but for the entire smartphone industry.
So can the second gen Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 out punch the OnePlus 5T and take the throne of the best budget flagship?
