JUST CAN'T FIX STUPID

Quick note we got the drone up and running again but sadly I still an idjit when it comes to flying it .

Tuesday evening we had a young man come to the shop soaking wet . Advised us that his car was in the water at the north end of the Peninsula . I drove up there Wednesday at low water and drove around the end of the Point and south on the bay side about 1.5 miles . I launched my drone but true to form pushed the wrong button for recording . I went again Thursday at low tide launched the drone from the West side of the Peninsula thinking I could cut across the end of the point and get a better idea of where the Explorer was sitting and form a plan to recover it .
I ended up 2000 feet north of the car and as I flew south I started to loose contact with the drone . The final contact I got with the drone was 7200 feet east of where I had launched it . The camera froze and I lost all communication with the drone . After about 10 minutes hitting the home button I gave up and figured I had lost the drone . I turned around and started to walk back to my truck . This is when I noticed the drone was hovering about 5 feet behind my truck . Lesson learned 7200 feet is too far . Need to keep it within 5500 feet for good communication .
The Explorer is still sitting at the point not sure if anyone is going to pay to get it out . I will keep you informed .
