This trailer captures highlights from the HKDI Design for Event, Exhibition and Performance study trip to World Stage Design (WSD) 2025 in Sharjah and Dubai.

Over seven inspiring days, our students explored the intersection of stage design, performance, architecture, and culture:

From visiting the Maraya Art Centre and the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), to immersing in the World Stage Design Exhibition, the trip offered firsthand exposure to global scenographic practices.

We experienced powerful performances including “Maybe Tomorrow” and “Transcendent Renaissance”, and engaged in hands-on learning through a Stage Lighting workshop for puppetry at SPAA.

The journey also connected design with place — from academic exchange at the American University of Sharjah, to sensory installations like the Rain Room, and cultural explorations in Al Fahidi Old District, Gold & Spice Souks.

In Dubai, students encountered future-focused and commercial design environments, visiting the Museum of the Future, Dubai Design District (D3), and Dubai Mall.

This study trip reflects HKDI’s commitment to expanding students’ global perspective in stage and spatial design, bridging creativity, technology, and cultural context.
