Brain Fog: My Journey with MTHFR, Autoimmune Stress & Long COVID Recovery (and What Actually Helped)

Brain fog isn’t just “being tired.”

It feels like slow thinking, low focus, and never quite firing at full capacity.

For me, it showed up alongside autoimmune symptoms and what many people now describe as Long COVID recovery challenges.

One area I started exploring was the MTHFR gene variant, often discussed in functional health circles around methylation and how the body processes nutrients and stress load.

Not as a diagnosis.
Not as a magic answer.
But as a signal to look deeper at what was happening system-wide.

What actually made a difference wasn’t a “detox protocol.”

It was reducing internal load:

Inflammation
Stress response overload
Gut and oral microbiome imbalance
Poor recovery cycles
