During this interview, mgk revealed that a chaotic misunderstanding at Rock am Ring in Germany ultimately became a turning point in letting go of his ego and obsession with other people’s opinions. mgk recalled storming into another band’s room convinced they had been “talking sh-” about him online, only for Oli Sykes and Rook (mgk's drummer) to later confirm the band had “never said anything” about him. Reflecting on the experience, mgk admitted he had spent years believing he was “in a constant war with people,” before eventually learning to “drop all ego” and stop caring so deeply about public perception.

mgk said: "I have made an a- of myself by convincing my own brain that I'm in a constant war with people. And it broke at Rock am Ring in Germany when I was having a conversation with Oli Sykes. I saw a band's name on the door and I was like, 'That's the people that were talking sh- about me.' I bust in the door and I'm like, 'Let's say it now. I want all the smoke, dude.' These fools are like, 'mgk, what?' And I'm like, "Nah, f- all that nice sh-.' Now I'm going crazy, and I'm like grabbing their snacks. I'm like, 'These are my snacks now.' Like, I don't give a f-. I'm begging them to fight me. I'm like, I wanna throw hands. I'm sick of this online sh-. Whatever, bro. I go back to the room, and I'll never forget — Oli looks up on Google like, 'Has this band ever talked sh- about mgk?' He's like, 'They've never said - anything.' Rook was like, 'Yeah bro, you're tripping. We toured with them before. That's not them.' And I was like, 'Ah.' I've just had so many of those funny outbursts. And that's why I love this background on my phone. It just says, 'You have no enemies.' It's from this anime called Vinland Saga. I've since adapted that so much where I'm just like, you know, if swords are flying, I'm throwing hands too. But if they're not, I'm chilling. I have no enemies… Oli's my dawg. I know in his head he's like, 'This mother- is a goddamn firecracker, man.' There were people — not him at all — but other people were just like, 'I don't know if we should invite Kells to this, man. He's gonna - pop off on somebody.' That's what it did to me until I was able to drop all ego and all cares about people's opinions of me and stuff. Now I'm just like, I welcome it. I just grin about that sh-."
