CATIA is used in the design of products and also finds use in the design of manufacturing tools, wiring harness, and mould design. And since the software is easy to learn and has had numerous updates throughout its vaunted history, OEMs prefer using CATIA over newly developed design software. The ability to work on CATIA is usually considered a bare minimum by top OEMs across industries - aerospace, automotive, heavy machinery, and shipbuilding while looking for design engineers.
