In this video I show how I've added a home automation system based cheap hardware and some tinkering.
The brains of the whole thing is the HomeAssistant platform, running on Raspberry Pis, and I've added a wall mounted touchscreen to control everything.

It took a while to get it to work, but I love the end result and how easy is to scale up and add additional features.
