Alpaca Shearing

Every year the Alpaca are given a haircut. The fleece can be sold or spun similar to sheep's wool, however, While similar to sheep's wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.

This year a team of University students were involved in the process, which includes shearing, toe-nail clipping, annual injections and teeth grinding.

This video just shows part of the process. With 15 alpaca to shear, it was a very long afternoon.
