This new 5.52km road is considered one of the biggest projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Bicol Region. The four-lane thoroughfare consists of a rock causeway and three bridges, connecting the Daang Maharlika junction to the barangays of Pangpang, Tugos, Cambaluga, and Talisay in Sorsogon City. 2. Davao City Coastal Road
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Davao Region targets to open the first 2.7-kilometer section of the Davao City Coastal Road Project to motorists by the middle of this month.

DPWH-Davao Region Public Affairs and Information Officer Dean Ortiz said on Monday that the initial phase has been completed “substantially,” with just a few more finishing touches such as the asphalting and other minor works.

The agency budgeted a total P2.6 billion for the “Bago Aplaya-Talomo section,” which runs from Barangay Bago Aplaya to Barangay Bucana.

The construction of this major road project started in 2017, according to Ortiz.

Before the scheduled opening, the official added that this road segment has already been attracting numerous joggers, bikers, and local residents who want to get a glimpse of the iconic Davao Gulf.

4. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has paved more than four (4) kilometers of the 11.6-kilometer Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project despite various typhoons that hit Eastern Visayas in 2019.

DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain reported to DPWH Secretary Villlar that as of end of December 2019, the 1.17-Billion Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project in Northern Samar is 30 percent completed.

Upon its completion, the coastal municipalities of Northern Samar up to Taft, Eastern Samar will be directly linked to the province’s capital Catarman without the need to pass through the island town of Laoang which is only accessible through small boats.

Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project involves the construction a 2-lane road from Junction Simora to Junction Palapag in the town of Palapag, Northern Samar with three (3) bridge components namely Simora, Jangtud 1 and Jangtud 2 Bridges.

The coastal road project linking the so called “Pacific towns” is funded by a loan agreement with the Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund.
