How to change Oil. An R1Videos.com video on how to change oil on a 2004, 2005, 2006 Yamaha R1. Not only is this a DIY how to oil change video, but you can also use this to see how to change oil filter and how to remove fairings on your YZF-R1, and how to use a bike stand.

What you need to change your oil in your R1:

1. Motorcycle oil - JASO MA/MA2 rating (do NOT use car oil)
2. Oil filter - use a paper one time use or a re-usable (we prefer the re-usable filters)
3. Drain plug crush washer (always replace the crush washer every time you change your oil unless you get a thicker one that can withstand several oil changes)
4. Funnel
5. A 17mm open end box end wrench (drain bolt is 17mm)
6. A 3/16 allen wrench or T-handle (T-handle makes the job much faster and easier)
7. Channel lock pliers
8. Cloth or towel to protect from scratching fairings when removing and re-installing them
9. Oil pan (empty litter box can work too)
