How to reset service indicator on Freelander 2/LR2 2008 Model

This service indicator reset process is done only after an oil change service. The reset process does reset for DIST (Distance) and DATE (Duration).
Resetting DIST resets the distance the vehicle has to cover before the next oil service session is due.
Resetting DATE resets the number of days remaining before the next oil service session is due.
You can chose to do any or both during the reset process but I would recommend you do both after an oil change.
It is a simple procedure needing only the Trip Reset Button (TRB). In words, here it is below.

1. Insert the key fob into the slot
2. Press and hold the TRB button until the light comes up indicating mileage
3. With the TRB still held down, press and hold the Start/Stop Push Button until the ignition comes up. DO NOT STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BEFORE PUSHING THE Start/Stop Push Button as intent is not to start the car
4. As the ignition comes up, you will notice the service indicator will start flashing. As soon as it stops flashing, release the TRB momentarily and push down again. You will notice that with the TRB released the words DIST, DATE & END will cycle through. If you do not do anything for about 5secs after releasing the TRB, the reset process will be terminated.
5. When it cycles to DIST, push down and hold the Trip Reset Button until the word RESET pops up. When it does, release and push down once to reset.
6. When it cycles to DATE, push down and hold the Trip Reset Button until the word RESET pops up. When it does, release and push down once to reset.
7. When it cycles to END. It indicates that the reset process is complete. You may also push the TRB but this will not cause RESET to pop up. Rather it will take you back to DIST.
8. When done, the indication will display DIST and Duration before before next service. And henceforth the service indication that comes up momentarily at vehicle start up to remind you that a service is due will no longer pop up until next due date.
9. Take yourself out for a treat knowing you just save yourself a couple of Benjamins.
