A New Method to View the Cortex in Depth
Researchers from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Yale University describe a new optical method to simultaneously record neuronal activity across all layers of the cerebral cortex -- in a behaving animal. Mark Andermann, PhD, and Michael Levene, PhD, have demonstrated that a reflective glass microprism can expand the reach of two-photon imaging to deeper cortical layers. For more information, see Andermann et al., Neuron 80(4).
