the 2019 nba draft one of my favorite draft classes of all time and i know it's only been two years but i'm loving how some of these players are really turning out for example zion williamson 27 points per game at 20 years old john moran who just averaged almost like 30 points in the nba playoffs i'm loving how some of these players are playing right now but today we're going to be re-drafting the draft class so first of all let's get into some criteria and then we'll get into the video to start i am going to be taking a team fit so we're going to be looking at the rosters back in 2018 or 2019 2018-19 season and from there and we're gonna be figuring out who's the best player for that team so maybe this guy's slightly better than that player this player fits that team better next thing i will be taking potential into account so a guy like cam reddish will probably still be picked over a guy like cam johnson in which cam johnson is probably the better player but cam radish obviously has a tremendous upside compared to cam johnson who doesn't have nearly as much upside so yeah that's it we're gonna be through drafting the lottery and let's get into the video so to start at number one and number two because we're going to be getting both of them out of the way we got silent williamson and following him john murray just like they were picked in the actual nba draft zion williamson has averaged 27.7 boards and four assists on 61 shooting this past year john marin on the other hand averaged 19 points four board 7.4 assists 45 from the field and in the playoffs he averaged 30 points per game five rebounds eight assists he was amazing in the playoffs zion didn't make the playoffs but his team kind of sucked so it wasn't really his fault and yeah it's just so obvious that they're number one and two let's get them out of the way with the third pick in the 2019 nba draft the new york knicks select darius garland from vanderbilt university yeah you heard it the knicks are passing on their beloved rj barrett and picking the point guard from vanderbilt instead darius garland garland similar to rj started off his nba career very bad i mean that'd be an understatement if you searched up the worst player in the nba that year darius garland was the result but this year he completely bounced back 17 and a half points 40 from three 45 percent from the field and he's not even that bad with defender on top of averaging six assists again garland has tremendous upside and seems like a great fit for a team that severely lost point guards that's why darius garland is the number three pick for me with the fourth pick in the 2019 nba draft the los angeles lakers select deandre hunter from the university of virginia mohawk keeping the original pick and deandre hunter this year severely needed defense finishing bottom in the league in defense so therefore they picked arguably the best defender in the class in deandre hunter at 4. hunter this year averaged 15 points four boards and two assists while being an elite defender so pretty much being a perfect fit for this hawks team although i think there's still better players on the board hunter is just the perfect fit for this hawks team that's why he stays going forth [Music] with the fifth pick in the 2019 nba draft the cleveland cavaliers select r.j barrett from toronto and duke university so yeah pretty much the cavs and knicks swift picks meaning garland went to the knicks and barrett went to the cavs rj barrett last year averaged 17.6 points six boards and three assists while being a kind of a slightly below average defender not
terrible just fine and the thing is the cavs aren't terrible on defense so he perfectly fits their organization barrett definitely could have went forth but due to the fact the hawks are awful on defense i think they'd rather take hunter over barrett on top of that the cavs could definitely use a shooting guard i think barrett going five is a good spot for him with the sixth pick in the 2019 nba draft the phoenix suns select kevin porter jr from the university of southern california yes kevin porter jr at six i know some of you guys are probably thinking that's way too high but porter this year has averaged almost 17 points and six 4.3 assists well having what seems like tremendous upside if you watch porter you can clearly see the potential personally i would even put him higher
maybe even up to three but because he's had like off the court issues
