Hyderabad, known as a global IT hub, is now facing a serious environmental concern. The green heart of the city — KBR National Park — is under threat due to a massive infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion.

The government’s Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) project proposes 7 flyovers and 7 underpasses around the park. While this may sound like progress, it comes at a heavy cost — nearly 1,942 trees may be cut down, leading to rising temperatures, loss of biodiversity, and disruption of natural water absorption.

Environmentalists and citizens have raised strong objections, pointing out violations of Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) norms. They argue that development should not come at the cost of clean air and ecological balance.
