Panasonic EVA1 vs GH5 [Review]

Panasonic EVA 1 is the new and exciting cinema camera for under 10k. What does a cinema camera have that the much cheaper GH4 and GH5 doesn't have? In this video we’ll compare them and see why a cinema camera is preferred for professional video productions.

The new Panasonic EVA1 is categorized as a cinema camera and not a DSLR nor a mirrorless camera. So what is a cinema camera? So far I haven’t found a clear definition, but there are expectations to a camera like this. Cinema cameras should have a super 35mm sensor or larger, a professional codec, minimum 10bit recording, high dynamic range and a professional lens mount.

Eva1 has a 5.7K Super 35mm sensor (5720x3016), 14 stops of dynamic range, 4K 10 bit 4:2:2 recording, 4k 60fps at 8 bit, Full HD at 240fps, Dual sensitivity ISO at 800 & 2500 and an EF mount. Panasonic says that an firmware update will unlock 5,7k RAW external recording and 400mbps 10 bit recording soon.
