It's very important to know how to conduct yourself during an immigration interview. In this video, Michael Ashoori explains 5 mistakes to avoid during an immigration interview.
1. Don't Guess - If you guess on a question and your answer turns out to be incorrect, the immigration officer may think that you are lying and scrutinize your case more highly.
2. Don't Ramble - For some reason, people think the immigration interview is the place to tell their life story. Do not ramble. Answer the question that is asked of you. Do not answer excessively and do not answer questions that are not asked of you. This can aggravate your immigration officer.
3. Don't Forget Your Documents - If you forget the documents you are required to bring to the immigration interview, the immigration officer may be cancelled or rescheduled.
4. Don't Lie.- If it is determined that you lied during the immigration interview, this can cause serious immigration consequences.
5. Don't be Rude - Make sure to be courteous and respectful to your immigration officer. Do not be rude or arrogant.
6. (Bonus) Be Prepared - You should know what types of questions to expect during your interview. You should also have a general understand of the process that will take place.
