As recommended in 'Doctor Who Magazine' issue 435, this is a personal tribute to Lis Sladen, whose death on 19th April 2011 affected me more than I could ever have anticipated. A childhood hero, still loved today by a new generation of viewers, her Sarah Jane was the definitive Doctor Who companion - loved every bit as much today as she was back in the early 70's. And to mark my heartfelt respects to someone who meant so very much to me as a little boy, I've left Elisabeth to voice the tribute in her own words: A touching, poignant and philosophical reflection on loss, sorrow and joy.
