Visit the official JetBrains website
Go to https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download

Select the "Community" Edition
Choose "Community" under the download options — it's 100% free and open source.

Click Download
The setup file will begin downloading for your OS (Windows/Mac/Linux).

Run the Installer (.exe or .dmg file)
After download completes, open the installer.

Accept the License Agreement
Check the box and click “Next.”

Choose Installation Path
You can keep the default path or select your own.

Select Installation Options (Windows Only)

✔️ Add “Open Folder as Project”
✔️ Associate .java or other file types (optional)

Click "Install"
The installation process will start — wait for it to finish.

Click "Finish" and launch IntelliJ IDEA.
