Heroes Live On: Episode 6
Heroes Live On: Join curator Kevin D. Dumouchelle on a 7-part video tour of the exhibition Heroes: Principles of African Greatness, exploring artworks from the National Museum of African Art’s permanent collection that tell the story of key heroic principles and personages in Africa’s arts and history.
[Part 6] South Africa—Long Walk to Freedom: Freedom, as Nelson Mandela noted, is a process—and a deeply personal one, at that. South Africa’s vaunted “long walk to freedom” over the course of the 20th century makes up one of the largest and most sweeping sets of stories within Heroes. It suggests a struggle ongoing and not yet complete.
