I am going to recommend what I think is the easiest and most efficient way to register a vehicle that was sold to a customer by using a good Dealer Management Software program.

A good dealer management software program will:

Calculate Sales Tax Collected
Transfer Collected Sales Tax to DMV
Order Customer’s New Title
Run Required Vehicle History Report
Print All Deal Documents
I want to show you a software program that I have been using called Dealer Center. Dealer Center will not only:

Calculate Sales Tax Collected
Transfer Collected Sales Tax to DMV
Order Customer’s New Title
Run Required Vehicle History Report
Print All Deal Documents

This software will automatically compute the sales tax that you are charging when you sell a vehicle. And by the way, if you have never owned a business that charges sales tax, I don’t want you to be intimidated because a dealer management software program like this one will automatically compute the sales tax that you are charging and then wire transfer it to the DMV when you register the vehicle that you have sold. It cannot be any easier than this.

And when you are done with the deal, you can just print up all of your deal documents to keep you in compliance with California dealer record laws. You want to be sure to make 2 copies of every document, one copy will go to the customer and one will go into your records which we will refer to as the Deal Jacket.

So here is a list of the documents you can print.
.

Once again, a good dealer management system will run the entire deal for you automatically. At the time of the deal, you and the customer will agree to a price the vehicle will be sold for, you complete the title, then boot up your dealer management software that will take over the transaction and:

Calculate Sales Tax Collected
Transfer Collected Sales Tax to DMV
Order Customer’s New Title
Run Required Vehicle History Report
Print All Deal Documents
It cannot get any easier than that.

Later on, in the course, I will go in-depth into dealer software and you can get started with the one I have been using at discountdealercenter.com by visiting discountdealercenter.com you can get a free trial plus a $250 credit which is only available to our students.

Or go to californiadealer.com, scroll down and click on California Dealer Software. I will go into that software program extensively later on when we cover financing.

Next, I want to cover document fees. The majority of your profit will be [BLAH BLAH BLAH]. May Charge Fee For Completion of Documents. Dealers in Business Partner Automation Program (BPA) May Charge $85 Document Fee. Dealers NOT in Business Partner Automation Program May Charge $70 Document Fee. If Dealer Charges Document Fees, Dealer Should Charge Fees On EVERY Transaction. Should Never Waive Document Fee. May NOT State It Is Government Fee.
Electronic Filing Fees:

May Charge Electronic Filing Fee Which Does Not Exceed The Actual Amount Dealer is Charged By First-Line Service Provider.
May Not Charge More Than $29
May Not Charge An Electronic Filing Fee If Using Registration Service to Complete The Electronic Filing Process
May Not Collect, Or Must Immediately Refund, An Electronic Filing Fee To Purchaser If Dealer Is Unable To Complete The Transaction Electronically For Any Reason
I want to go in-depth to cover California Motor Vehicle Sales Tax:
