WE WERE ROBBED | Vlog 32 | Van Life Canada

This isn't our typical style video, there's a lot less travel and a lot more discovering we were robbed lol But, I had the camera on me to film getting Helen back, so I just kept filming, and this is the result!

During the shipment of our van from Liverpool to Halifax Canada, whoever had access to our keys (you have to hand them over on a RORO boat), decided to rip open our well-locked cupboards with force, and steal from us.

When you ship a van across the Atlantic with SeaBridge, they clearly state that you can bring items across, but the van has to look empty, i.e everything should be stored away, and of course, you shouldn't risk anything that's of value to you!

We did lock everything away, but alas, there are pigs in the world and we got unlucky!

We had all of our main valuables with us, and funnily enough, the day we shipped the van, we last minute put the projector in because I couldn't fit it into the case! Whoooops!

Since this video we discovered more things stolen, like just general clothes, and fridge magnets, oh and a bath mat (lol)

But everything can be replaced, and our van didn't have any external damage and she drives well. The just made a real mess of the back and ripped up some wood and boxes, but thankfully, didn't hit our electric/water system back there!

Don't let this stop you from thinking of shipping a van, it's extremely rare that this happens, and if you watch the video, you'll see that the Canadian side hasn't seen a robbery in like 7 years...so...this was just part bad luck! lol

I'm pretty confident the robbers will know who we are, since our branding is in and over the van, so if you guys are watching this, I'd like to say **** you. :)

Brad and I have actually been really lucky over the years. 5 years of travel and we never had anything stolen, which is why I was surprisingly calm about the whole situation (as in I surprised myself, I usually cry at everything), BUT, I'm more angry and frustrated than sad, but these things happen, and there are much worse things happening in the world, and it won't affect our trip SO, onwards and upwards!

But a special shout out to the actual shipping company (ACL Cargo) who wouldn't even apologize for their crew being thieves.
