How to Make a Spaghetti Strap Dress | How to Sew a Dress for Beginners without a Pattern

Learn how to make a spaghetti strap skater dress from scratch in this easy step by step sewing project for beginners – no pattern, zipper, or elastic needed! I show you how to cut and sew a half circle skirt and bodice, how to hem the raw edges, and how to use bias tape to create the spaghetti straps add a nice detail around the armholes, neckline, and bottom edge of the dress. I also give you tips on how to sew with stretch fabric for those of you who are new to my tutorials!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
-2+ yards of 4-way stretch knit fabric (I used a little under 2 yards for mine, so you may have some extra especially if you’re smaller; and if you want it to be much longer than mine, get extra fabric… the longer you want it, the more you’ll need)

-4 yards of ¼” double fold bias tape in a coordinating or contrasting color

-Fitted spaghetti strap tank top for a template (it won’t be cut up)
