Elias Engquist sets world record strict curl (114.25 kg) at FIBO 2026

In the world of strength sports, one name is starting to generate a lot of attention: Elias Engquist. This young Swedish athlete, only 22 years old, became one of the main highlights after his performance at FIBO 2026, one of the biggest fitness expos in Europe.
In terms of performance, his lift was historic. Elias recorded what was announced at the event as a “world record” in the strict curl, lifting 114.25 kg (251.8 lbs) under strict conditions, with no swinging or momentum, in a movement where the biceps work in near isolation.
At just 22 years old, he produced one of the highest marks ever seen in competition for this discipline, placing himself among the elite in the strict curl world.
Reactions quickly followed. Well-known figures in the strength world, such as Devon Larratt, were surprised and publicly congratulated him after the lift.
In comparison, historical references like Denis Cyplenkov had long held marks around 113 kg in this type of movement, placing Engquist’s performance among the highest ever recorded in competition.
In short, what happened at FIBO 2026 is not just another big lift, but a performance that places him at the center of discussion in the international strength community.
