Where I Purchased - A nice local guy.
Listed Price - $750
Price Paid - $700
Condition - Brand new in sealed boxes!
Quality - 9.5
I just love the overall quality of these speakers. Everything from the heavy duty cabinets, driver materials all the way down to the binding posts.
I am very impressed with what Episode was able to accomplish, especially given the fairly low MSRP.
Sound - 9.5
It takes quite a bit to get me to swap out my regular audio equipment but after listening to these speakers for a couple hours, I listed my beloved Mythos ST SuperTowers for sale.
I just love the tweeter and the mid bass. The ribbon tweeter reminds me of the ribbon tweeter in the Martin Logan 60XT towers I used to own, just larger.
The sound for movies is equal to my Klipsch Ultra2 650’s, which I have 3 sitting in my storage unit.
If I can ever afford to get a bigger place, I can’t wait to do an A/B comparison. Should be fun!
MSRP Rating - 9.0
Like I mentioned above, I am stunned with what Episode was able to accomplish with a MSRP of $899! Now not cheap by any means, these are amazingly inexpensive, especially when compared to other, true, Monitor speakers like these.
The Klipsch Ultra2 650’s were $1,499 each, for reference.
Aesthetics - 8.5
I obviously have a thing for matching speakers across the front and larger than normal “bookshelf” style speakers.
These are just beautiful to me but they would definitely look better in a larger room. Ideally, they were designed to go behind transparent screens in dedicated theaters but they look awesome in my modern living room. They almost have an industrial look to them.
Price Paid Value - 8.5
I would have loved to rate them a little higher here, as I am just smitten with my purchase but the truth be told, Episode just isn’t a well known brand. Brands that aren’t on everyone’s radar, like Klipsch, Martin Logan etc, you can gear great deals on the 2nd hand market.
Again, this is the type of speaker deals that I am hoping to share with as many fellow home audio fans as possible, so they can maximize their budgets.
Average Guy HiFi Rating - 45/50 = 90%
Other Equipment used: Denon AVR-X3300W Receiver, Marantz MM7055 Amplifier, LG C9 OLED 65” TV, Panasonic DP-UB820P-K 4K Blu-ray Player, Panamax M7500-PRO, Xbox One X
