In a Baseball era stained by steroid use ,inflated statistics one player stands above it all. Captain of the storied New York Yankees never one to hesitate throwing himself into the stands to catch a foul ball. A player that accepts only winning , a player who's philosophy is the team comes first not individual records. That player is Derek Jeter whose name one day will be in Monument Park along with Gehrig , Ruth , DiMaggio , Mantle and past Yankee Icons. After 20 years in Major League Baseball Jeter is hanging up his spikes whether you like the Yankees or not #2 has always come through during the Playoffs , World Series games. To me that epitomes a winner ! #2 we salute you and thank you for the memories !
Philanthropy
Jeter created the Turn 2 Foundation, a charitable organization, in 1996. It was established to help children and teenagers avoid drug and alcohol addiction, and to reward those who show high academic achievement. Jeter received an honorary doctorate from Siena College honoring him for his foundation's work.
Jeter also serves as an ambassador for Weplay, a website designed to encourage children to get involved in sports.
