Do not take a doll head with markings on the face to state board. You should know the 14 sections of the beard that need shaving. The doll head in this demo has markings on the beard ONLY for demonstration purposes and for the students who watch the video to understand what zones are zone 1, zone 2, etc…
Procedure:
First, set up the station and drape the doll head. The doll head might be placed in a shoebox, not on tripod, depending on the state where you take your exam: check the state board of barbering website for more details of your state’s requirements for the shaving exam. This one works for NIC practical tests. NIC is adopted in many states of the United States, including California.
Next: sanitize hands, apply shaving cream to soften the pretend hair on the face, remove it with towel, and reapply the shaving ream; sanitize the hands and start shaving.
Shave with soft strokes following the freehand, backhand, and reverse procedures: always double check for your state’s requirements for extra detail for shaving. Use a clean razor. Use a towel to remove excess shaving cream. Tone the face to close the skin pores. Place the razor in the Implements to be Sanitized container. Undrape, clean up, and sanitize hands.
