"BIRTH OF THE BEE GEES" - Some very early video / photographic footage of The Brothers Gibb "The Bee Gees" at Redcliffe and surrounding districts courtesy of one of our favourite Karaoke CDs and the web.All (C) remains with WMG or original licence holders as SPECIFICALLY ACKNOWLEDGED in opening credits - used here under "fair use" as a tribute to Redcliffe's greatest sons "The Brothers Gibb" and the extended Gibb family and is for historical reference only. We therefore : claim no credit for the original footage / content.
DESCRIPTION : Musically there are two versions of one of our favourite songs "FIRST OF MAY" both featuring Barry - the second version is a rough Demo of the first OFFICIALLY RELEASED VERSION. I think most of the footage was shot by Maurice, as mainly Robin and Barry appear in the footage, Maurice appears briefly at one or two spots throughout we presume Barry shot this? Feel free to correct us if we're wrong. We believe Comino's Arcade features at beginning and Vince's Garage somewhere in the middle - and of course THE FAMOUS FILMER'S PALACE HOTEL complete with "FOUREX BEER XXXX" Sign towards the end! and after hearing Barry's story about Woolworths,penknives and 5 finger discounts - I hope the car at Filmer's Palace belongs to them!!! The creek could be Deception Bay / Cribb Island or Humpy-Bong? Just guessing! P.S. FOOTNOTE : Our family band De'Ja'Vu was honoured to open the now re-named "Bee Gees Way" on the 10 /08 / 2008 when it was first built. The Redcliffe Mayor Allan Sutherland was officiating then as well I guess we were Barry's support act! 5 years in advance!!! I'm expecting a lot more people will turn up today for the main event -than the couple of hundred we had !!! - CONGRATS to BARRY and The BOYS From Brissi! They've done us proud.......
