It is an anti-money laundering regulation in Canada that the lenders need to verify the whereabouts of each dollar of a your down payment for 9️⃣0️⃣ days.

This results in many different documents being required, from gift letters to bank statements to sale receipts. When clients come to us with small pieces of their down payment in many bank accounts, often there is a requirement for them to provide 10 to 20 different bank statements just to verify the down payment dollars!
