Sink or Swim: A Mental Health Journey During the COVID-19 Pandemic | Kate Gray | TEDxUAlberta
Discussion about mental health has become much more common since the onset of the pandemic, but what does this look like for the individuals currently struggling with theirs? Kate will reflect on and discuss her personal journey with mental health over the course of the pandemic, touching on topics such as receiving, managing, and coming to terms with mental diagnoses, with the hope of connecting with the audience and reminding them that they are not alone in their battles, and though things can seem awfully dark, there’s always a way back to the light. Kate Gray is currently completing her third year of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Alberta. Kate is a passionate advocate for eliminating the stigma surrounding ADHD, as well as a strong proponent of mental health care for students. If you can’t find her working and studying in her favorite haunt – the John W. Scott Library – you’re likely to find her participating in campus sports, enjoying a coffee and a book, or at work teaching swimming lessons and lifesaving courses. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
