This is module IVM (integrated voltage module) or ISM Integrated supply module.
This is the Genuine BMW Integrated Supply Module for E60 E63 E65 and E53 chassis BMW's. IVM (integrated voltage module) or ISM Integrated supply module is located in the DME box under the hood on the left side on your BMW.
Power to various systems on the car are routed through this module and if it fails you can have any kind of electrical gremlin, transmission problems, and even a no-start situation. This module is often associated with transmission problems where the transmission may only go into P N R 3rd and 5th gears.
