Understanding Coverages (Part 5)

What is Cover 4?

Cover 4, often called “Quarters,” uses four defenders to divide the deep part of the field into four equal zones. This coverage helps defend deep passes while allowing defenders to react to routes developing in front of them.

Quarterbacks who recognize Cover 4 before the snap can better understand where defenders are likely to be and how the coverage may adjust as routes unfold.

The more you understand the defense, the faster and more confident you can play.
