Bad News For The Real Housewives Franchise

Fans have been asking for some sort of Real Housewives special for some time now and over the last few weeks rumors of a Real Housewives Allstars Spinoff made headlines after former Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge revealed that not only has Bravo been planning this new series for a while now, but the network has already started casting. But before we jump for joy let’s be real about how the of the entire Real Housewives franchise might be on it’s last leg.

It’s Justin Diego back with another bingeworthy video and today let’s talk about why I feel like Bravo is struggling right now and why housewives fans are giving Bravo the side eye for firing almost all of their OGs and how Andy Cohen told me exactly what to look for 5 years ago to know when the franchise is running out of gas.

I dunno if yall have even heard about these Rumors of a Real Housewives Allstars spinoff but yes Tamra Judge from the RHOC definitely spilled the tea about the new series a couple of weeks ago on Instagram: Clip: Tamera Live) And the fans have been going wild commending Bravo for shaking things up. And some fans have even began speculating that bravo has been secretly giving their legendary OGs the boot only to have this brand new type of series. And I dunno if you guys can even wrap your head around the concept but I’m thinking this new concept will be sort of a mix between Celebrity Big Brother and The Bad Girls Club. And I’m honestly not impressed.

Andy Cohen Feels The End Is Near
Instead I’m actually really worried about RHOA, RHOP, RHOBH, RHONJ, and literally every single franchise on the network because I have to be honest it’s starting to feel like the end of The Real Housewives series for me and I’m gonna tell you why.

I’m actually probably gonna get in a little trouble for this because the release of this interview ended up getting scrapped but anyways, I met with Andy Cohen down at the Four Seasons in Atlanta back in 2015. I reserved the Penthouse suite, I had a camera guy, and everything I needed all on the strength of a favor from one of our RHOA girls who wanted to see me win. I loaded up a list of questions and I was shook to finally have me first interview with Andy Cohen so I asked about the idea of a Real Housewives Allstars type spinoff and what he said definitely ruined my dreams of pitching my concept to the network. But it all made sense. At the time RHOA was doing great. The entire franchise was thriving and I think RHOP had just been announced so that meant that Bravo was expanding the franchise and that was a good thing. But fast forward to today and almost every one of the franchises have seen a major drop in ratings and they’ve lost some of their key players. And Andy Cohen said himself that an Allstars spinoff is something you do when you’re desperate for ratings and when the future of the franchise is uncertain.

Now I know some of you guys are still not convinced because I get it the Real Housewives have been a cultural staple and it’s hard to imagine a world without our Housewives but did we ever think that Keeping Up With The Kardashians would ever come to an end? It was when they announced their final season for me. It made me start thinking about how our attitude about Reality TV has shifted over the last couple of years.

I think there is so much available to learn about the people we find interesting on Social Media these days that is starting to make Reality TV pointless. I think back in the day we didn’t have as much access and we weren’t all so connected where the comments in the shade room can save us from spending a whole hour watching a show for the tea.

Right! I’m shook. It was also interesting learning about even more Housewives OGs getting the boot this year and with all things considered I wouldn’t be surprised with Bravo started the process of preparing for Final Seasons of some of these Housewives series in the franchise starting first with RHONJ next year. And I’m not even trying to be funny. I also don’t thing that RHOA is exempt from these cancelation concerns. I’ve been primarily creating content for RHOA viewers since season 6 and I have seen a huge shift in the way we interact with it and I am always getting comments about how people quit watching the show.

So do you think the Real Housewives Allstars spinoff that is reportedly in the works is clever and all in good fun or do you think that Bravo is shaking in their boots wondering what to do to get one of the most iconic TV franchises back to being Bingeworthy ASAP?
