Thomas Tuchel has fulfilled the promise he made to Chelsea fans back in January.
Chelsea booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday evening, defeating Real Madrid 2-0 in the second leg of their semi-final showdown.

Chelsea reached the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in nine years on Wednesday evening after defeating Real Madrid 2-0 in the second leg of their semi-final tussle at Stamford Bridge.

Goals either side of the half time interval from striker Timo Werner, who finally ended his wait for a goal from open play in the Champions League this season, and Mason Mount ensured the Blues booked a place in the final against Manchester City, winning the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

Although Chelsea won the contest by two goals to nil, it did appear as though they would have to settle for just the one to get the job done, with a string of chances in the second half being squandered.

Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante, who was nothing short of outstanding in the center of the park, and Kai Havertz were all guilty of spurning big opportunities, potentially opening the door for Madrid to seal an equalizer and force extra time.

Although goalkeeper Edouard Mendy had been called into action on a handful of occasions in the first half, he was almost a spectator in the second 45, as the majority of the play unfolded in Madrid's half.

Madrid's failure to score at Stamford Bridge means that Chelsea has now racked up 18 clean sheets in 23 matches since Thomas Tuchel took charge towards the end of January, which is nothing short of absolutely phenomenal.

Aside from West Bromwich Albion putting five past the Blues in early April, no other side has scored more than one goal in a game against Chelsea since Tuchel took charge.

With that said, it is worth going back to one of the very first statements that the German-made after being named as Frank Lampard's successor, as he vowed that he would turn his team into a side that nobody would want to lock horns with.

Speaking after his first game in charge against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which came just 24 hours after his appointment, Tuchel said: "The title is far away, we have to be realistic. Honestly, when you sign for Chelsea or, like me, as a manager, you sign for the expectation of challenging for titles.

"I'm used to creating the special energy and atmosphere you need to create for the possibility to win every three days in a league like this. I believe we can do this on a daily basis.
"We will build a team nobody wants to play against."

Building a team that nobody wants to play against is exactly what Tuchel, despite not bringing in any new players of his own, has done. He has got to grips with the tools available to him and made it work.

He has made this Chelsea side resilient, rock-solid, and enjoyable to watch.

Only West Brom and FC Porto have conquered this Chelsea team so far, whilst the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid have all failed to score against them.

Admittedly, Tuchel is still in the early stages of his Blues tenure, but the opening signs have been nothing short of outstanding.
